Valued Roles and status are rarely seen as important or necessary for person who has a disability. People who have a disability are often afforded less valued roles and subsequently given less status. Commonly, most community members would deem the roles generally developed for, given and afforded to, people who have a disability, to be personally undesirable and unacceptable.
The CLP strongly believes with some thoughtfulness about a persons gifts and talents, that careful planning and a creative but diligent effort, can potentially open up the opportunity for any person to move into roles that are afforded a higher status and in which they come to be more highly valued.
